Federer´s resurgence, Birkdale drama and magical Man City – 2017´s sporting highlights

There were countless memorable sporting moments in 2017, from Roger Federer s stunning Australian Open triumph to Manchester City s dominance of the Premier League.

Omnisport s writers reflect on the drama they witnessed at the year s biggest events.

Dejan Kalinic on the Australian Open and a magical men s singles final

A first Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal grand slam final since 2011 made the men s Australian Open decider special enough, but two of the greatest players of all-time served up a classic in their unexpected showdown on Rod Laver Arena.

Federer was playing in his first tournament since Wimbledon the year prior and questions remained over how he would return from knee surgery.

Nadal was on the comeback trail after a wrist in…

Mourinho rates 2010 ´the best year of my career´

Jose Mourinho on Saturday rated 2010 as the best year of my career after guiding his former club Inter Milan to the Italian league, Cup and Champions League titles.

If I had to give 2010 a mark from 1 to 10 it would be an 11, the ever modest Portuguese coach told a press conference here.

I won everything with Inter. And then with Real Madrid every possibility is still available. The championship is open, we are still in the (Spanish) Cup, and the Champions League.

Mourinho was speaking ahead of Real Madrid s league date with Sevilla on Sunday. Real are in second, two points behind Barcelona who slaughtered Mourinho s men 5-0 at the Nou Camp last month the only blot on Mourinho s landscape.

On This Day in 2020: Gunners have a good night against Rapid Vienna

Arsenal announced they would become the first Premier League club to welcome fans in for a competitive fixture since March following the coronavirus pandemic, on this day in 2020.

The north London club confirmed 2,000 spectators were to be allowed in for their Europa League match against Rapid Vienna the following week.

The Gunners learned Emirates Stadium was to be in tier two of the Government’s new regionalised approach to tackling the coronavirus pandemic, and were able to welcome fans in for the clash with the Austrian side.

A club statement read: “It’s been almost nine long months since we had fans in attendance at Emirates Stadium and our matches have simply not been the same without you.

It s been a long nine long months without our fans.

The NFL betting calendar turns to October and the Week 4 odds are still warm and gooey on the inside like a pumpkin spice scone, hitting the board early Sunday night.

We teach you how to time your best NFL Week 4 bets and give our favorite bet now/bet later Week 4 spreads and totals.

Conference Championship NFL Parlay Picks: 49ers Continue to Lean on Mitchell

Conference Championship weekend is upon us in the NFL, as we are fresh off one of the best weekends of football ever with three walk-off field goals and an overtime touchdown to secure our final four teams. Although I doubt anything can top last weekend’s games, I am still looking forward to the encore.

Here’s a closer look at my two favorite NFL parlay picks for Conference Championship weekend, all of which center around player props.

Giants vs Eagles Divisional Round Props: Giants Get their Feelings Hurt

The New York Giants will look for a second straight playoff upset when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC Divisional Playoff matchup on Saturday.

The Eagles (14-3) beat the Giants (10-7-1) in both of their regular season matchups, and also have a healthy Jalen Hurts at quarterback as they try to advance to the NFC Championship.

Hurts should be able to find opportunities on the ground and in the air against New York, so we’ll be targeting him among our player props this Divisional Playoff weekend in my free NFL picks for Giants vs. Eagles below.

Week 7 NFL Parlay Picks: Lions Roar vs Ravens

Perhaps I’ve been in denial for most of the season, but I think it’s finally time to take the 5-1 Detroit Lions seriously as a Super Bowl odds contender. The NFL odds don’t seem to agree, as the Lions are underdogs in Baltimore as they battle the Ravens in Week 7.

I’ll take the points with Detroit and group it with a pair of strong moneyline plays. I’ll also fill out a three-leg same-game parlay for Packers vs. Broncos, highlighting my three favorite NFL player props in that contest.

Without further ado, here are my best free NFL parlay picks and predictions for Week 7.

Bills vs Dolphins Odds, Picks, and SNF Predictions: On the Attack For the AFC East Crown

There’s a lot on the line in the NFL regular-season finale between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in the Sunday Night Football odds. Whoever wins this game will lock up the AFC East title. A loss drops the Dolphins to the sixth seed while the Bills can breathe a little easier now that they’ve secured a postseason berth after Sunday’s early action.

While Buffalo is riding high into Week 18 with four straight victories, the Dolphins are licking their wounds after getting obliterated in Baltimore and losing linebacker Bradley Chubb to a torn ACL, adding to a long list of injury concerns for the Dolphins. With momentum on the side of the Bills, NFL odds have them tabbed as a three-point favorite with the game having a total of 49.5.

Patriots vs Jets TNF Prop Bets: Henry Exceeds Expectations

The New York Jets host the New England Patriots in Thursday Night Football action this week. The Pats were supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league but they’ve exceeded expectations so far thanks to a solid defense and Rhamondre Stevenson.

I’m betting on those things to continue with my favorite NFL picks and player props for the Patriots vs. Jets on Thursday, September 19.
